Fripp (including Fripp West)
  • Good potential for nickel and copper mineralization
  • Follow up drilling required to follow up on the massive sulphide intercept
Location: 30 km SW of Timmins, Ontario
Size:1376 ha (86 units, 10 claims)
Target Minerals::Copper, Nickel

Local Exploration:

The Fripp property lies approximately 18 kilometers southwest of the Redstone Nickle deposit in Langmuir Township. Closest neighbours are Liberty Mines who possess the Redstone Mine.

Property Geology:

The Fripp property is comprised largely of a northwest southeast trending granodioritic stock with inliers of peridotite occurring throughout the granodiorite host rock. The perdotites have been proposed to be large xenoliths and are host to nickel and copper occurrences. Preliminary field observations by government geologists suggest that spinifex textures commonly recognized in Komatiite flows are also evident in this area. Komatiitic flows are host rocks to Kambalda style nickel deposits.

Historical Highlights:

In 1965, trenching uncovered narrow pyrrhotite veins in a serpentinized ultramafic sill on the Property. Grab samples returned assays as high 1.28% Ni from vein material with samples of disseminated pyrrhotite in the ultramafic near its contact with diorite returning up to 0.5% nickel. In the southeastern part of the Fripp property the Moneta Chalcopyrite Zone was found by previous exploration and is historically estimated to contain about 55,000 tons grading 2% copper. The zone is hosted by mafic rocks (diorite, quartz diorite and quartz gabbro). The showing requires further exploration to determine if it is an intrusion.

Work Completed to Date:

Portions of Amador's original Fripp Property has been flown by Geotech's VTEM airborne system. Numerous strong coincidental electromagnetic and magnetic anomalies occur on the Fripp Property. Most of the property is covered by glacial till and overburden. However, occurrences of nickel have been located near or on strike with some of the VTEM anomalies. Drilling by Amador in 2008 tested a number of VTEM targets on the Fripp property. Approximately 500 meters southeast of the trenched and stripped area from which grab samples were retrieved grading as high as 1.28% nickel, a drill hole testing an IP chargeability target intersected a massive sulphide zone comprised of pyrrhotite and pyrite. The zone possessed anomalous copper and nickel. No follow up drilling has been done.

Recent Highlights:

Massive sulphide section discovered in drilling possessing anomalous copper and nickel.
