Overview
The recently consolidated Horwood Property encompasses historic gold zones that have seen little exploration since the 1940s. More than 90% of the property is covered by overburden. Amador's drilling programs have focused on the Gabbro, Bend and Quartz Blowout gold zones, discovered during initial trenching programs in 2006. Assay results from recent drilling ranged from 0.71 g/t gold over 5 meters up to 12.35 g/t gold over 2.4 meters. The strike length of the zones is not yet known because they trend into swamps and thick overburden. The two largest zones appear to be on strike with one another and are about 500 meters apart.Geology
Gold mineralization at Horwood is similar in style to gold deposits in the Timmins camp, which have produced more than 60 million ounces of gold during the past century. Recent exploration has confirmed a series of anomalous gold zones occurring over wide areas. Mineralization is associated with carbonatized, silicified and pyritiferous alteration in mafic flows and intrusives. Within these wide zones are en-echelon stacked quartz-carbonate veins where gold appears more concentrated. Mineralization is not restricted to these zones and also occurs in altered wallrock.
Next Steps
Ongoing drilling will test gold zones on strike to identify areas where the gold may be concentrated into high-grade shoots or occur in broad low-grade zones amenable to open-pit mining, as occurs in the Timmins camp. Ground and recently flown airborne VTEM surveys will be used to help guide the drill programs.
